Transportation Engineer Intern

We are hiring a Transportation Engineer Intern to join our civil engineering team in Amarillo. You will gain hands-on experience on projects that matter to our customers. This is a 12-week paid summer internship. This role is on site at our Amarillo location.
What you’ll do
- Prepare plans, specifications and estimates for DOT projects
- Design signing, striping and maintenance-of-traffic plans
- Design roadway, intersection and multimodal improvements
- Present findings at public meetings
- Perform traffic impact and signal timing studies in Synchro
What you’ll bring
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Knowledge of MUTCD and AASHTO standards
- Experience with traffic analysis software
- Strong written communication
Nice to have
- Experience on state DOT projects
- PE or PTOE certification
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in Amarillo, TX is $24 – $28 per hour. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
