As a Backend Engineer with the employer, you will work independently and help shape how the software engineering team works. This position is based in New York, NY. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is hybrid, with three days a week in our New York office.
What you’ll do
- Model data and tune queries for PostgreSQL and other data stores
- Write design documents and weigh trade-offs with the wider engineering group
- Design and operate APIs and data pipelines that power customer-facing products
- Build asynchronous processing with message queues and streaming systems
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 3+ years of relevant professional experience
- Strong understanding of relational data modeling
- Experience building back-end services in Go, Java, Python or a similar language
- Experience operating services in a cloud environment
Nice to have
- Experience with Kafka or other streaming platforms
- Background in high-throughput or low-latency systems
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in New York, NY is $157,000 – $199,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
