The employer is looking for a Lead Materials Engineer in Philadelphia, PA. In this role you will set technical direction alongside an experienced materials engineering team and take real ownership of your work. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is hybrid, with three days a week in our Philadelphia office.
What you’ll do
- Support suppliers with process and material issues
- Run mechanical, thermal and microstructural testing
- Select and qualify materials for new product designs
- Perform failure analysis on returned and field components
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work
- Set technical standards and guide decisions across multiple projects
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience
- Strong report writing
- Experience with materials characterization methods
- Knowledge of metals, polymers or composites
- A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery
Nice to have
- Experience with additive manufacturing
- Graduate degree in materials science
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in Philadelphia, PA is $124,000 – $158,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
