The employer is looking for a Staff Software Engineer in Phoenix, AZ. In this role you will set technical direction alongside an experienced software engineering team and take real ownership of your work. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is on site at our Phoenix location.
What you’ll do
- Partner with product managers and designers to scope and estimate new work
- Write clean, well-tested code and review pull requests from teammates
- Improve performance, reliability and observability across the services you own
- Design, build and maintain services and features used by thousands of customers every day
- Diagnose and resolve production issues, and write the follow-up that keeps them from recurring
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work
- Set technical standards and guide decisions across multiple projects
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience
- Professional experience shipping production software in at least one modern language
- Experience with relational databases and writing efficient SQL
- Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms and software design principles
- A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery
Nice to have
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience building distributed systems or event-driven architectures
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in Phoenix, AZ is $164,000 – $208,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
