As a Staff Software Engineer with the employer, you will set technical direction and help shape how the software engineering team works. This position is based in Memphis, TN. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is hybrid, with three days a week in our Memphis office.
What you’ll do
- Diagnose and resolve production issues, and write the follow-up that keeps them from recurring
- Design, build and maintain services and features used by thousands of customers every day
- Mentor teammates and help raise the bar for code quality on the team
- Partner with product managers and designers to scope and estimate new work
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work
- Set technical standards and guide decisions across multiple projects
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience
- Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms and software design principles
- Professional experience shipping production software in at least one modern language
- Experience with relational databases and writing efficient SQL
- A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery
Nice to have
- Experience building distributed systems or event-driven architectures
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in Memphis, TN is $161,000 – $205,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
