Staff Security Engineer

The employer is a robotics company building autonomous systems for warehouses and agriculture.

Our Houston office is growing, and we need a Staff Security Engineer who can set technical direction from day one. You will work closely with a collaborative software engineering group and report to the software engineering manager. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is hybrid, with three days a week in our Houston office.

What you’ll do

• Support compliance work such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001 audits
• Run threat models and security reviews for new features and infrastructure
• Harden cloud identity and access management
• Manage vulnerability scanning and drive remediation with engineering teams
• Mentor junior engineers and review their work
• Set technical standards and guide decisions across multiple projects

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a related field
• 8+ years of relevant professional experience
• Experience with a SIEM or log analysis platform
• Scripting ability in Python or a similar language
• Working knowledge of common attack techniques and defenses
• A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery

Nice to have

• Experience with container security
• Security certifications such as OSCP, CISSP or GIAC

Compensation and benefits

The pay range for this position in Houston, TX is $171,000 – $218,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
