Staff Front-End Engineer

As a Staff Front-End Engineer with the employer, you will set technical direction and help shape how the software engineering team works. This position is based in New York, NY. This is a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension. This role is hybrid, with three days a week in our New York office.
What you’ll do
- Translate designs into reusable components and maintain the shared component library
- Measure and improve page performance and Core Web Vitals
- Write unit and end-to-end tests for user-facing features
- Work with back-end engineers to define clean API contracts
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work
- Set technical standards and guide decisions across multiple projects
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience
- Production experience with React or a comparable framework
- Strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills
- Experience writing automated tests for front-end code
- A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery
Nice to have
- Experience with WCAG 2.1 AA audits
- Experience with Next.js or server-side rendering
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in New York, NY is $127 – $155 per hour. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
