We are hiring a Staff Backend Engineer to join our software engineering team in Laredo. You will set technical direction on projects that matter to our customers. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is on site at our Laredo location.
What you’ll do
- Own services end to end, including deployment, monitoring and on-call
- Improve test coverage and release safety for critical services
- Build asynchronous processing with message queues and streaming systems
- Write design documents and weigh trade-offs with the wider engineering group
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work
- Set technical standards and guide decisions across multiple projects
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience
- Clear written communication for design reviews
- Experience operating services in a cloud environment
- Experience building back-end services in Go, Java, Python or a similar language
- A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery
Nice to have
- Experience with infrastructure as code
- Background in high-throughput or low-latency systems
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in Laredo, TX is $167,000 – $213,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
