We are hiring a Senior Power Systems Engineer to join our electrical & computer engineering team in Birmingham. You will lead technical work on projects that matter to our customers. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is hybrid, with three days a week in our Birmingham office.
What you’ll do
- Support interconnection studies for renewable generation
- Perform load flow, short circuit and arc flash studies
- Develop relay settings and coordination studies
- Prepare drawings and specifications for utility projects
- Design substation, distribution and protection systems
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience
- Understanding of NEC, IEEE and NERC standards
- Experience with ETAP, PSS/E or SKM
- Knowledge of protective relaying
- A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery
Nice to have
- Experience with battery storage or solar interconnection
- PE license
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in Birmingham, AL is $119,000 – $151,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
