As a Senior Mechanical Engineer with the employer, you will lead technical work and help shape how the mechanical engineering team works. This position is based in Chicago, IL. This is a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension. This role is hybrid, with three days a week in our Chicago office.
What you’ll do
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing on design for manufacturability
- Manage engineering change orders and documentation
- Run tolerance stack-ups and apply GD&T to drawings
- Build and test prototypes, then iterate on the results
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience
- Hands-on prototyping and testing experience
- Working knowledge of GD&T
- Understanding of common manufacturing processes
- A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery
Nice to have
- Experience with injection molding or sheet-metal design
- Experience with ANSYS or Abaqus
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in Chicago, IL is $72 – $88 per hour. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
