The employer is a packaging manufacturer running high-speed production lines across several plants.
We are hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our mechanical engineering team in Austin. You will lead technical work on projects that matter to our customers. This is a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension. This role is hybrid, with three days a week in our Austin office.
What you’ll do
- Design mechanical components and assemblies in SolidWorks
- Run tolerance stack-ups and apply GD&T to drawings
- Perform FEA and hand calculations to validate designs
- Manage engineering change orders and documentation
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing on design for manufacturability
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience
- Understanding of common manufacturing processes
- Working knowledge of GD&T
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, Creo or NX
- A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery
Nice to have
- Experience with injection molding or sheet-metal design
- Experience with ANSYS or Abaqus
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in Austin, TX is $76 – $93 per hour. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
