Senior Controls Engineer

The employer is a manufacturer of industrial pumps, valves and flow-control equipment.
Our New York office is growing, and we need a Senior Controls Engineer who can lead technical work from day one. You will work closely with a collaborative electrical & computer engineering group and report to the electrical & computer engineering manager. This is a 9-month contract with the possibility of extension. This role is hybrid, with three days a week in our New York office.
What you’ll do
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs for automated equipment
- Develop HMI and SCADA screens
- Commission equipment on site and train operators
- Integrate robots, vision systems and safety devices
- Design control panels and electrical schematics
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience
- Willingness to travel to job sites
- Commissioning experience
- Ability to read electrical schematics
- A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery
Nice to have
- Experience with FANUC or ABB robots
- Knowledge of functional safety (ISO 13849)
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in New York, NY is $91 – $111 per hour. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
