We are hiring a Principal Structural Engineer to join our civil engineering team in Durham. You will set technical direction on projects that matter to our customers. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is on site at our Durham location.
What you’ll do
- Build analysis models in RISA, ETABS or SAP2000
- Analyze and design steel, concrete, masonry and wood structures
- Review shop drawings and answer contractor RFIs
- Perform condition assessments of existing structures
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work
- Set technical standards and guide decisions across multiple projects
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience
- Strong hand-calculation skills
- Experience with structural analysis software
- Clear communication with architects and contractors
- A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery
Nice to have
- Seismic design experience
- PE or SE license
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in Durham, NC is $127,000 – $162,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
