As a Principal Robotics Engineer with the employer, you will set technical direction and help shape how the mechanical engineering team works. This position is based in New York, NY. This is a 9-month contract with the possibility of extension. This role is on site at our New York location.
What you’ll do
- Work across mechanical, electrical and software teams
- Integrate sensors, actuators and compute hardware
- Write simulation and test tools
- Tune and validate robot performance in the lab and the field
- Develop software for robot perception, planning and control
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work
- Set technical standards and guide decisions across multiple projects
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience
- Experience with ROS or ROS 2
- Hands-on robotics experience
- Understanding of kinematics and control
- A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery
Nice to have
- Graduate degree in robotics
- Experience with SLAM or computer vision
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in New York, NY is $130 – $159 per hour. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
