The employer is looking for a Principal Energy Engineer in Chicago, IL. In this role you will set technical direction alongside an experienced energy engineering team and take real ownership of your work. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is on site at our Chicago location.
What you’ll do
- Conduct energy audits of commercial and industrial facilities
- Design solar PV and battery storage systems
- Run measurement and verification of completed projects
- Write reports and present results to clients
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work
- Set technical standards and guide decisions across multiple projects
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Energy Engineering
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience
- Strong spreadsheet and data analysis skills
- Client-facing communication skills
- Experience with energy modeling tools
- A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery
Nice to have
- Experience with incentive programs
- CEM or PE certification
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in Chicago, IL is $127,000 – $162,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
