As a Principal Civil Engineer with the employer, you will set technical direction and help shape how the civil engineering team works. This position is based in Madison, WI. This is a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension. This role is on site at our Madison location.
What you’ll do
- Prepare cost estimates and quantity takeoffs
- Produce construction drawings and specifications in Civil 3D
- Coordinate with municipal reviewers and secure permits
- Support construction administration, including submittal review and site visits
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work
- Set technical standards and guide decisions across multiple projects
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Ability to manage several projects at once
- Strong technical writing skills
- A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery
Nice to have
- Experience with HEC-RAS or SWMM
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in Madison, WI is $76 – $92 per hour. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
