We are hiring a Principal Civil Engineer to join our civil engineering team in Des Moines. You will set technical direction on projects that matter to our customers. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is on site at our Des Moines location.
What you’ll do
- Prepare site, grading, utility and drainage designs for land development projects
- Support construction administration, including submittal review and site visits
- Prepare cost estimates and quantity takeoffs
- Prepare stormwater reports and calculations
- Produce construction drawings and specifications in Civil 3D
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work
- Set technical standards and guide decisions across multiple projects
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience
- Strong technical writing skills
- Ability to manage several projects at once
- Working knowledge of local and state design standards
- A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery
Nice to have
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification
- Experience with HEC-RAS or SWMM
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in Des Moines, IA is $116,000 – $148,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
