Power Systems Engineer Intern

The employer is a regional electric utility serving residential, commercial and industrial customers.
We are hiring a Power Systems Engineer Intern to join our electrical & computer engineering team in Los Angeles. You will gain hands-on experience on projects that matter to our customers. This is a 12-week paid summer internship. This role is on site at our Los Angeles location.
What you’ll do
- Prepare drawings and specifications for utility projects
- Perform load flow, short circuit and arc flash studies
- Design substation, distribution and protection systems
- Support interconnection studies for renewable generation
What you’ll bring
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Strong analytical skills
- Understanding of NEC, IEEE and NERC standards
- Knowledge of protective relaying
Nice to have
- PE license
- Experience with battery storage or solar interconnection
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is $33 – $39 per hour. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
