Our Phoenix office is growing, and we need a Lead Mechanical Engineer who can set technical direction from day one. You will work closely with a collaborative mechanical engineering group and report to the mechanical engineering manager. This is a 9-month contract with the possibility of extension. This role is on site at our Phoenix location.
What you’ll do
- Design mechanical components and assemblies in SolidWorks
- Run tolerance stack-ups and apply GD&T to drawings
- Build and test prototypes, then iterate on the results
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing on design for manufacturability
- Perform FEA and hand calculations to validate designs
- Manage engineering change orders and documentation
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work
- Set technical standards and guide decisions across multiple projects
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience
- Understanding of common manufacturing processes
- Working knowledge of GD&T
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, Creo or NX
- A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery
Nice to have
- Experience with injection molding or sheet-metal design
- Experience with ANSYS or Abaqus
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in Phoenix, AZ is $85 – $104 per hour. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
