As a Lead Materials Engineer with the employer, you will set technical direction and help shape how the materials engineering team works. This position is based in New York, NY. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is hybrid, with three days a week in our New York office.
What you’ll do
- Select and qualify materials for new product designs
- Perform failure analysis on returned and field components
- Run mechanical, thermal and microstructural testing
- Support suppliers with process and material issues
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work
- Set technical standards and guide decisions across multiple projects
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience
- Knowledge of metals, polymers or composites
- Experience with materials characterization methods
- Laboratory experience
- A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery
Nice to have
- Experience with additive manufacturing
- Graduate degree in materials science
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in New York, NY is $168,000 – $214,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
