As a Lead Materials Engineer with the employer, you will set technical direction and help shape how the materials engineering team works. This position is based in Fort Wayne, IN. This is a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension. This role is on site at our Fort Wayne location.
What you’ll do
- Perform failure analysis on returned and field components
- Support suppliers with process and material issues
- Run mechanical, thermal and microstructural testing
- Write material specifications and test reports
- Select and qualify materials for new product designs
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work
- Set technical standards and guide decisions across multiple projects
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience
- Knowledge of metals, polymers or composites
- Laboratory experience
- Strong report writing
- A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery
Nice to have
- Experience with additive manufacturing
- Graduate degree in materials science
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in Fort Wayne, IN is $78 – $96 per hour. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
