Our Boston office is growing, and we need a Lead Materials Engineer who can set technical direction from day one. You will work closely with a collaborative materials engineering group and report to the materials engineering manager. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is on site at our Boston location.
What you’ll do
- Run mechanical, thermal and microstructural testing
- Perform failure analysis on returned and field components
- Select and qualify materials for new product designs
- Support suppliers with process and material issues
- Write material specifications and test reports
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work
- Set technical standards and guide decisions across multiple projects
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience
- Experience with materials characterization methods
- Strong report writing
- Knowledge of metals, polymers or composites
- A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery
Nice to have
- Graduate degree in materials science
- Experience with additive manufacturing
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in Boston, MA is $161,000 – $205,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
