Controls Engineer Intern

The employer is looking for a Controls Engineer Intern in Portland, OR. In this role you will gain hands-on experience alongside an experienced electrical & computer engineering team and take real ownership of your work. This is a 12-week paid summer internship. This role is on site at our Portland location.
What you’ll do
- Design control panels and electrical schematics
- Commission equipment on site and train operators
- Integrate robots, vision systems and safety devices
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs for automated equipment
- Develop HMI and SCADA screens
What you’ll bring
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Ability to read electrical schematics
- Willingness to travel to job sites
- Experience programming Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs
Nice to have
- Experience with FANUC or ABB robots
- Knowledge of functional safety (ISO 13849)
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in Portland, OR is $26 – $30 per hour. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
