Backend Engineer

The employer is a software company building workflow and analytics tools for operations teams.

The employer is looking for a Backend Engineer in Irving, TX. In this role you will work independently alongside an experienced software engineering team and take real ownership of your work. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is hybrid, with three days a week in our Irving office.

What you’ll do

• Design and operate APIs and data pipelines that power customer-facing products
• Write design documents and weigh trade-offs with the wider engineering group
• Build asynchronous processing with message queues and streaming systems
• Own services end to end, including deployment, monitoring and on-call
• Model data and tune queries for PostgreSQL and other data stores

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
• 3+ years of relevant professional experience
• Experience operating services in a cloud environment
• Strong understanding of relational data modeling
• Experience building back-end services in Go, Java, Python or a similar language

Nice to have

• Background in high-throughput or low-latency systems
• Experience with Kafka or other streaming platforms

Compensation and benefits

The pay range for this position in Irving, TX is $119,000 – $151,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
