Our Chicago office is growing, and we need a Backend Engineer who can work independently from day one. You will work closely with a collaborative software engineering group and report to the software engineering manager. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is on site at our Chicago location.
What you’ll do
- Improve test coverage and release safety for critical services
- Own services end to end, including deployment, monitoring and on-call
- Model data and tune queries for PostgreSQL and other data stores
- Design and operate APIs and data pipelines that power customer-facing products
- Build asynchronous processing with message queues and streaming systems
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 3+ years of relevant professional experience
- Experience building back-end services in Go, Java, Python or a similar language
- Strong understanding of relational data modeling
- Experience operating services in a cloud environment
Nice to have
- Experience with Kafka or other streaming platforms
- Experience with infrastructure as code
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in Chicago, IL is $123,000 – $157,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
