Associate Backend Engineer

The employer is a cybersecurity company providing managed detection and response to regulated industries.

We are hiring an Associate Backend Engineer to join our software engineering team in Pomona. You will learn quickly and contribute on projects that matter to our customers. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is hybrid, with three days a week in our Pomona office.

What you’ll do

• Write design documents and weigh trade-offs with the wider engineering group
• Design and operate APIs and data pipelines that power customer-facing products
• Improve test coverage and release safety for critical services
• Build asynchronous processing with message queues and streaming systems
• Own services end to end, including deployment, monitoring and on-call
• Model data and tune queries for PostgreSQL and other data stores

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Experience operating services in a cloud environment
• Experience building back-end services in Go, Java, Python or a similar language
• Clear written communication for design reviews

Nice to have

• Experience with infrastructure as code
• Background in high-throughput or low-latency systems

Compensation and benefits

The pay range for this position in Pomona, CA is $106,000 – $135,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
