Associate Backend Engineer

The employer is a cybersecurity company providing managed detection and response to regulated industries.

We are hiring an Associate Backend Engineer to join our software engineering team in Cincinnati. You will learn quickly and contribute on projects that matter to our customers. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is hybrid, with three days a week in our Cincinnati office.

What you’ll do

• Write design documents and weigh trade-offs with the wider engineering group
• Improve test coverage and release safety for critical services
• Model data and tune queries for PostgreSQL and other data stores
• Own services end to end, including deployment, monitoring and on-call
• Build asynchronous processing with message queues and streaming systems

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Strong understanding of relational data modeling
• Clear written communication for design reviews
• Experience building back-end services in Go, Java, Python or a similar language

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka or other streaming platforms
• Background in high-throughput or low-latency systems

Compensation and benefits

The pay range for this position in Cincinnati, OH is $88,000 – $112,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
