The employer is looking for a Backend Engineer in Newark, NJ. In this role you will work independently alongside an experienced software engineering team and take real ownership of your work. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is hybrid, with three days a week in our Newark office.
What you’ll do
- Build asynchronous processing with message queues and streaming systems
- Design and operate APIs and data pipelines that power customer-facing products
- Write design documents and weigh trade-offs with the wider engineering group
- Improve test coverage and release safety for critical services
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 3+ years of relevant professional experience
- Experience operating services in a cloud environment
- Clear written communication for design reviews
- Experience building back-end services in Go, Java, Python or a similar language
Nice to have
- Experience with infrastructure as code
- Background in high-throughput or low-latency systems
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in Newark, NJ is $128,000 – $163,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
