Senior Backend Engineer

The employer is a networking company that designs connectivity products for enterprises and carriers.

As a Senior Backend Engineer with the employer, you will lead technical work and help shape how the software engineering team works. This position is based in Carrollton, TX. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is on site at our Carrollton location.

What you’ll do

• Own services end to end, including deployment, monitoring and on-call
• Build asynchronous processing with message queues and streaming systems
• Design and operate APIs and data pipelines that power customer-facing products
• Improve test coverage and release safety for critical services
• Write design documents and weigh trade-offs with the wider engineering group
• Model data and tune queries for PostgreSQL and other data stores
• Mentor junior engineers and review their work

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience
• Strong understanding of relational data modeling
• Experience operating services in a cloud environment
• Experience building back-end services in Go, Java, Python or a similar language
• A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery

Nice to have

• Experience with infrastructure as code
• Experience with Kafka or other streaming platforms

Compensation and benefits

The pay range for this position in Carrollton, TX is $146,000 – $186,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
