Materials Engineer Intern

The employer is looking for a Materials Engineer Intern in Charlotte, NC. In this role you will gain hands-on experience alongside an experienced materials engineering team and take real ownership of your work. This is a 12-week paid summer internship. This role is on site at our Charlotte location.
What you’ll do
- Run mechanical, thermal and microstructural testing
- Select and qualify materials for new product designs
- Support suppliers with process and material issues
- Perform failure analysis on returned and field components
What you’ll bring
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering
- Strong report writing
- Knowledge of metals, polymers or composites
- Laboratory experience
Nice to have
- Graduate degree in materials science
- Experience with additive manufacturing
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in Charlotte, NC is $24 – $29 per hour. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
