Staff Site Reliability Engineer

The employer is an applied machine learning company serving insurance and financial services clients.

As a Staff Site Reliability Engineer with the employer, you will set technical direction and help shape how the software engineering team works. This position is based in San Antonio, TX. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is hybrid, with three days a week in our San Antonio office.

What you’ll do

• Build tooling that removes toil from operations work
• Improve the observability stack: metrics, logs and traces
• Define service level objectives with product teams and track error budgets
• Run capacity planning and load testing for critical services
• Lead incident response and write blameless post-incident reviews
• Mentor junior engineers and review their work
• Set technical standards and guide decisions across multiple projects

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
• 8+ years of relevant professional experience
• Proficiency in Go, Python or a similar language
• Experience with modern observability tooling
• Experience operating large-scale production systems
• A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery

Nice to have

• Experience in a regulated or high-availability environment
• Experience with chaos engineering

Compensation and benefits

The pay range for this position in San Antonio, TX is $173,000 – $220,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
