The employer is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer in New York, NY. In this role you will lead technical work alongside an experienced software engineering team and take real ownership of your work. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is hybrid, with three days a week in our New York office.
What you’ll do
- Write design documents and weigh trade-offs with the wider engineering group
- Design and operate APIs and data pipelines that power customer-facing products
- Improve test coverage and release safety for critical services
- Own services end to end, including deployment, monitoring and on-call
- Build asynchronous processing with message queues and streaming systems
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience
- Clear written communication for design reviews
- Strong understanding of relational data modeling
- Experience building back-end services in Go, Java, Python or a similar language
- A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery
Nice to have
- Experience with Kafka or other streaming platforms
- Background in high-throughput or low-latency systems
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in New York, NY is $196,000 – $249,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
