Principal Civil Engineer

The employer is a civil engineering and land surveying firm supporting residential and commercial development.

As a Principal Civil Engineer with the employer, you will set technical direction and help shape how the civil engineering team works. This position is based in Wichita, KS. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is on site at our Wichita location.

What you’ll do

• Produce construction drawings and specifications in Civil 3D
• Prepare site, grading, utility and drainage designs for land development projects
• Coordinate with municipal reviewers and secure permits
• Support construction administration, including submittal review and site visits
• Prepare stormwater reports and calculations
• Prepare cost estimates and quantity takeoffs
• Mentor junior engineers and review their work
• Set technical standards and guide decisions across multiple projects

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• 8+ years of relevant professional experience
• Working knowledge of local and state design standards
• Ability to manage several projects at once
• Strong technical writing skills
• A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification
• Experience with HEC-RAS or SWMM

Compensation and benefits

The pay range for this position in Wichita, KS is $116,000 – $148,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
