Senior Software Engineer

The employer is a data platform company that helps logistics firms track shipments in real time.

As a Senior Software Engineer with the employer, you will lead technical work and help shape how the software engineering team works. This position is based in Kansas City, KS. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is hybrid, with three days a week in our Kansas City office.

What you’ll do

• Mentor teammates and help raise the bar for code quality on the team
• Write clean, well-tested code and review pull requests from teammates
• Partner with product managers and designers to scope and estimate new work
• Diagnose and resolve production issues, and write the follow-up that keeps them from recurring
• Automate repetitive build, test and release steps
• Mentor junior engineers and review their work

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience
• Experience with relational databases and writing efficient SQL
• Comfort working with version control, code review and automated testing
• Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms and software design principles
• A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery

Nice to have

• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud

Compensation and benefits

The pay range for this position in Kansas City, KS is $137,000 – $174,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
