Software Engineer Intern

The employer is a cloud software company helping mid-size businesses manage billing and payments.

We are hiring a Software Engineer Intern to join our software engineering team in Sioux Falls. You will gain hands-on experience on projects that matter to our customers. This is a 12-week paid summer internship. This role is on site at our Sioux Falls location.

What you’ll do

• Write clean, well-tested code and review pull requests from teammates
• Mentor teammates and help raise the bar for code quality on the team
• Diagnose and resolve production issues, and write the follow-up that keeps them from recurring
• Contribute to technical design documents and architecture discussions
• Design, build and maintain services and features used by thousands of customers every day
• Improve performance, reliability and observability across the services you own

What you’ll bring

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
• Experience with relational databases and writing efficient SQL
• Professional experience shipping production software in at least one modern language
• Comfort working with version control, code review and automated testing

Nice to have

• Experience building distributed systems or event-driven architectures
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

Compensation and benefits

The pay range for this position in Sioux Falls, SD is $31 – $36 per hour. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
