Backend Engineer

The employer is a SaaS company building scheduling and dispatch software for field service businesses.

Our Murfreesboro office is growing, and we need a Backend Engineer who can work independently from day one. You will work closely with a collaborative software engineering group and report to the software engineering manager. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is on site at our Murfreesboro location.

What you’ll do

• Design and operate APIs and data pipelines that power customer-facing products
• Build asynchronous processing with message queues and streaming systems
• Own services end to end, including deployment, monitoring and on-call
• Model data and tune queries for PostgreSQL and other data stores
• Write design documents and weigh trade-offs with the wider engineering group
• Improve test coverage and release safety for critical services

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
• 3+ years of relevant professional experience
• Experience operating services in a cloud environment
• Clear written communication for design reviews
• Experience building back-end services in Go, Java, Python or a similar language

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka or other streaming platforms
• Experience with infrastructure as code

Compensation and benefits

The pay range for this position in Murfreesboro, TN is $118,000 – $150,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
