Embedded Software Engineer

The employer is a semiconductor company designing mixed-signal chips for industrial and automotive markets.
We are hiring an Embedded Software Engineer to join our electrical & computer engineering team in New York. You will work independently on projects that matter to our customers. This is a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension. This role is on site at our New York location.
What you’ll do
- Bring up new hardware with the electrical engineering team
- Develop firmware in C and C++ for microcontroller-based products
- Write unit and hardware-in-the-loop tests
- Write device drivers for sensors, communication buses and peripherals
- Debug at the board level with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and JTAG
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 3+ years of relevant professional experience
- Experience with an RTOS or bare-metal firmware
- Ability to read schematics and datasheets
- Strong C programming skills for resource-constrained systems
Nice to have
- Experience in a regulated industry (medical, automotive, aerospace)
- Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy or other wireless stacks
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in New York, NY is $94 – $115 per hour. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
