Principal Hardware Engineer

The employer is a space company building small-satellite platforms and ground systems.

Our New York office is growing, and we need a Principal Hardware Engineer who can set technical direction from day one. You will work closely with a collaborative electrical & computer engineering group and report to the electrical & computer engineering manager. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is on site at our New York location.

What you’ll do

• Perform signal and power integrity analysis
• Work with firmware engineers to debug hardware-software issues
• Lead board bring-up and hardware validation
• Design high-speed digital boards with processors, memory and FPGAs
• Drive designs through manufacturing release
• Mentor junior engineers and review their work
• Set technical standards and guide decisions across multiple projects

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
• 8+ years of relevant professional experience
• Lab skills with oscilloscopes and protocol analyzers
• Knowledge of high-speed interfaces such as DDR, PCIe or Ethernet
• Experience with Cadence or Altium
• A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery

Nice to have

• FPGA development experience
• Experience with HyperLynx or similar SI tools

Compensation and benefits

The pay range for this position in New York, NY is $214,000 – $272,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
