Senior Security Engineer

As a Senior Security Engineer with the employer, you will lead technical work and help shape how the software engineering team works. This position is based in Palmdale, CA. This is a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension. This role is on site at our Palmdale location.
What you’ll do
- Run threat models and security reviews for new features and infrastructure
- Build detections and respond to security incidents
- Support compliance work such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001 audits
- Manage vulnerability scanning and drive remediation with engineering teams
- Harden cloud identity and access management
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience
- Working knowledge of common attack techniques and defenses
- Experience with a SIEM or log analysis platform
- Scripting ability in Python or a similar language
- A track record of leading projects from scope through delivery
Nice to have
- Security certifications such as OSCP, CISSP or GIAC
- Experience with container security
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this position in Palmdale, CA is $115 – $140 per hour. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
