Software Engineer

The employer is an applied machine learning company serving insurance and financial services clients.

The employer is looking for a Software Engineer in Reno, NV. In this role you will work independently alongside an experienced software engineering team and take real ownership of your work. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is hybrid, with three days a week in our Reno office.

What you’ll do

• Diagnose and resolve production issues, and write the follow-up that keeps them from recurring
• Contribute to technical design documents and architecture discussions
• Mentor teammates and help raise the bar for code quality on the team
• Partner with product managers and designers to scope and estimate new work
• Write clean, well-tested code and review pull requests from teammates
• Automate repetitive build, test and release steps

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
• 3+ years of relevant professional experience
• Professional experience shipping production software in at least one modern language
• Experience with relational databases and writing efficient SQL
• Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms and software design principles

Nice to have

• Experience building distributed systems or event-driven architectures
• Experience with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud

Compensation and benefits

The pay range for this position in Reno, NV is $117,000 – $148,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
