Software Engineer

The employer is a health technology company building software and devices for outpatient care.

The employer is looking for a Software Engineer in Richmond, VA. In this role you will work independently alongside an experienced software engineering team and take real ownership of your work. This is a full-time, permanent position. This role is on site at our Richmond location.

What you’ll do

• Mentor teammates and help raise the bar for code quality on the team
• Automate repetitive build, test and release steps
• Write clean, well-tested code and review pull requests from teammates
• Design, build and maintain services and features used by thousands of customers every day
• Partner with product managers and designers to scope and estimate new work
• Diagnose and resolve production issues, and write the follow-up that keeps them from recurring

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
• 3+ years of relevant professional experience
• Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms and software design principles
• Professional experience shipping production software in at least one modern language
• Comfort working with version control, code review and automated testing

Nice to have

• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience building distributed systems or event-driven architectures

Compensation and benefits

The pay range for this position in Richmond, VA is $123,000 – $156,000 per year. Final pay depends on experience, skills and qualifications.
